When the oil filter housing is leaking oil, it’s easy to lose confidence in your car’s reliability. Replacement when it’s needed will restore your faith in your car.
As well, running your engine for a long time with a leaking oil filter housing can result in extensive engine damage.
While it’s leaking, close attention should be paid to the engine oil level to prevent an overheated or seized engine.
Removal
1.Release fuel system pressure.
2.Drain the cooling system.
3.Remove the lower intake manifold
4.Disconnect the oil temperature sensor and oil pressure sensor electrical connectors.
5.Remove five bolts and lift the oil filter housing.
6.Remove the coolant hose from the housing.
Installation
1.Lubricate the O-ring seal on the new housing with clean engine oil.
2.Install the coolant hose to the filter housing.
3.Place the oil filter housing on the engine block.
4.Tighten the housing bolts in the following sequence to 106 in. lbs.
5.Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
6.Connect the oil temperature sensor electrical connector.
7.Install the lower intake manifold.
8.Fill the cooling system.
